About Us
Who we are
DUSC is a performance sports club at Durham University. We have a competitive and development squad, with our main competitive squad offering seven coached pool sessions and two gym sessions a week. Our competitive squad competes in both Short Course and Long Course BUCS. Both squads compete in the British University Swimming League (BUSL), placing 4th in the 2024 season and 11th in the 2025 season.
Is DUSC right for you?
DUSC is a performance club aimed at representing Durham University at competitions. DUSC has a range of swimmers from swimmers competing at county-level to national champions, with our swimmers predominantly competing at a regional-level.
Our squads predominantly cater to sprinters and middle-distance swimmers, but we can also cater to distance swimmers! All of our swimmers have had competitive experience, but many of our swimmers rejoined the sport at Durham. So if you’ve competed before and are looking to get back into the sport, please do reach out!

Our Squads
Performance Squad
Our performance squad is our main squad, aiming to compete and represent the University at both BUCS and BUSL. Performance squad trains in the pool seven times a week and twice in the gym. If you are interested in joining our performance squad click the link to find more about our squad and trials!
Development Squad
Our development squad is great for anyone looking for high quality training to develop their skills but not lookign to compete in University Competitions. Our developement squad has access to six coached sessions a week and both gym slots. Check out below for more!
Our Competitions
Short Course BUCS
BUCS Short Course Championships sees over 1,000 athletes from 80 institutions descend on Sheffield for 3 days of competitive racing in Term 1.
Long Course BUCS
BUCS Long Course Championships, part of BUCS Nationals, sees athletes tackle the 50m Olympic-sized pool, as over 5,000 students come to Sheffield for a weekend of sport in February.
The British University Swimming League (BUSL)
BUSL is a fun, friendly, yet competitive university swimming league born out of the National University Development League and working together with other student-run swimming leagues across the country.
